Bettina West, Founder Juvenile Justice Support Corp
I grew up in the southwest corner of Kansas, in a small town that many people have never heard of. Some call it “Dorothy Land,” while others recognize it for its annual Pancake Day race. To me, it is simply home the place where I was born and raised. Life on Missouri Street, on the north side of town, was not easy. We did not have much, but we gained invaluable life lessons. Although my mother was present, it was my late grandmother, Pearlie Mae, who played the most significant role in raising me. In a small trailer home, we often shared food, clothing, and sleeping space with as many as ten other children. It was an environment defined by sacrifice, resilience, and unconditional love. These experiences have shaped the person I am today. Rising from humble beginnings to opening my second business a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children in need has been one of the most meaningful accomplishments of my life. This work is more than a profession; it is deeply personal. Having once been a child in need myself, I bring both understanding and passion to everything I do. Juvenile Support Services Corp is not just an organization; it is a vision rooted in lived experience and a genuine commitment to giving back. Among my proudest achievements are the establishment of Joy Rides Taxi Service and Juvenile Support Services Corp, both of which reflect my dedication to serving and uplifting my community.
